La canción de la semana #1005

In 1862, the famous Spanish luthier Antonio de Torres created a guitar with back and sides of papier-mâché. In the 21st century, the Italian guitarist Federica Artuso recorded the album called Papier-Mâché where she plays on replicas of the Torres guitar built by Fabio Zontini. I learned about this from the Radio Clásica programme La guitarra de papel (broadcast on 16 January 2026).

From the above album, Milonguea del ayer by the Argentine composer and guitarist Abel Fleury.

La canción de la semana #197

I'd like to kick off the year with Milonga Sentimental composed by Sebastián Piana and Homero Manzi in 1931. This version is taken from Cachai?, the debut album of Spanish fusion band Canteca de Macao. According to last.fm,

At the present time Canteca de Macao has achieved for first time in the music history that multinationals such as EMI publishing accept their music under a copyleft license.
